About ENT

Our ENT (ear, nose and throat) surgeons treat problems of the ears, nose, sinuses, throat and voice box in children and adults, with medicines where possible and surgery where it is needed.

Common reasons to visit include repeated ear or throat infections, a blocked nose or sinus pain that does not settle, hearing loss, ringing in the ears, and a hoarse voice that lasts more than two weeks.

Questions patients ask

When should I see an ENT specialist?

See an ENT specialist for ear pain or discharge, reduced hearing, a blocked nose or sinus pain lasting more than ten days, repeated throat infections, or a hoarse voice for more than two weeks.

Do tonsils always need to be removed?

No. Tonsils are removed only when infections keep coming back, or when they are large enough to block breathing or swallowing. Most throat infections are treated with medicines.

Is it safe to clean ears with earbuds?

It is better not to. Earbuds push wax deeper and can injure the ear drum. If your ear feels blocked, see an ENT specialist to have it cleaned safely.

Which doctors at Abhinav Hospital work in ENT?

Dr. Amit Rathi and Dr. (Major) Vaibhav Chandankhede.
